About the tournament
The 2026 Super Rapid & Blitz Croatia tournament is the third stage of the prestigious Grand Chess Tour 2026 series. The competition will be held in Zagreb from June 29 to July 6, 2026. The tournament format combines rapid chess (rapid) and blitz, which guarantees maximum dynamics and entertainment. Participants will first play 9 rounds of rapid in a round-robin system, and then continue the fight in two rounds of blitz (another 18 rounds).
Historical background
Zagreb has traditionally hosted the Grand Chess Tour since 2019. The Croatian stage is known for its uncompromising competition, where legends such as Magnus Carlsen have won in previous years. This tournament has become an important milestone in the elite chess calendar, bringing together the best grandmasters in the world.
