Results

From May 5 to 12, 2026, the French town of Saint-Dulchard will become the center of the world draughts movement. The strongest national teams of the planet will gather here to determine the title holders in the team competition.

About the tournament and organization

World Championship Teams 2026 (WCT2026) is the main team forum of the year, held under the auspices of the World Draughts Federation (FMJD). The direct organizer is the French Draughts Federation (FFJD).

Status: Official FMJD ranking tournament.
  • Disciplines: The competition will be held in three formats:

    • Classic game: Time control — 90 minutes for 45 moves + 30 minutes until the end of the game with an addition of 30 seconds per move, starting from the 46th.

    • Rapid game: Control 15'+5''.

    • Blitz: Control 5'+3''.

  • Team composition: Separate competitions for men (open category) and women. Each team consists of 3 main players and up to 2 substitutes.

Historical Reference and Star Names

The World Team Championships have a rich history, traditionally dominated by the teams of the Netherlands, Ukraine, France and the Baltic countries. The participation of world ranking leaders and reigning world champions, such as Roel Bomstra or Jan Groenendijk (Netherlands), as well as leading Ukrainian grandmasters, who traditionally compete for the highest awards, is expected.

Venue and infrastructure

  • Location: Saint-Dulchard is a picturesque suburb of the historic city of Bourges, located in the heart of France.

  • Logistics: The nearest airports are in Paris, from where participants take a train to Bourges and then local transport to the hotels.

  • Accommodation: The organizers offer several accommodation options at the hotels "The Originals Access", "Campanile" and "Anais Hotel", located near the game venue.

Terms of participation

Only national federations that are members of the FMJD can participate in the competition.

  • Registration fee: 100 euros per team in the classic program and 20 euros for the fast disciplines.

  • Application deadline: March 29, 2026.
