Historical Reference and Star Names

ICCD (formerly ICSC) was founded in 1949 in Copenhagen. The World Team Championships are held every four years, demonstrating the inclusivity and high intellectual level of the athletes.

Among the legends of ICCD tournaments are Israeli grandmaster Yehuda Grunfeld (the first deaf player to become a grandmaster) and Ukrainian star Tetiana Baklanova, who has repeatedly become a world champion. Ukraine is traditionally among the world elite: our national teams are the current leaders of European and world championships.
