From February 26 to March 1, 2026, the Latvian capital will become the center of intellectual battles among women. The final part of the Latvian International Draughts Championship (100) will be held at the premises of the Latvian Checkers Federation (LDF).
Who will fight for the crown?
The final will feature the country's top 10 female checkers, who have gone through a series of qualifying rounds. The tournament promises to be extremely intense, as exactly half of the participants — 5 players — hold high international titles (GMI, MI, MF). Among the main favorites are expected to be last year's champion Malvīne Misāne, as well as strong contenders Elizaveta Zakharova and Alice Misāne.
Regulations and time control
The competition will be held in a classic round-robin format (each player against each player). This is the fairest format, eliminating chance:
-
System: Round robin, 9 rounds.
-
Time control: 45 minutes per game + 30 seconds per move (classic).
-
Refereeing: Experienced referee Raivis Paegle will oversee compliance with the rules.
Final round schedule
The tournament starts on Thursday, February 26, with a double round. In total, the girls will play 9 games over four days. The final round and the awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, March 1.
This championship is an important stage in the formation of the Latvian national team to participate in international competitions under the auspices of the FMJD in 2026.
