From April 18 to 29, the Albanian city of Durres will host the World Senior Team Chess Championship (WSTCC). The tournament is held under the auspices of FIDE and with the support of the European Chess Union. This is an official rating tournament: the results of each game affect the international Elo rating of the participants. Who can share the same fate?

The tournament is divided into two main age categories:

  • 50+: For players born in 1976 or earlier.

  • 65+: For players born in 1961 or earlier.

Team squads usually include 4 main players and one substitute. Both national teams and club teams representing their federations can participate.
