In February and March 2026, Belgium will host its main draughts tournament, the Individuell Belgisch Kampioenschap (BK) 2026. This is an international draughts competition (on a 100-square board) that will determine the country's best players in the first and second divisions.

First Division (Division 1): The strongest masters of the country will compete here, among whom the participation of such ranking leaders as Adiatou Ibrahim and Keita Desmet is expected.

Second Division (Division 2): A platform for experienced players and promising youngsters fighting for the right to rise to the elite.

Youth and special categories: In February (according to the calendar - until February 14), registration for youth championships (juniors, cadets, hopefuls) usually closes, the finals of which are often integrated into the general schedule of national championships.

🌍 Context and significance
The Belgian Championship 2026 is a qualifying stage for international competitions under the auspices of the FMJD (World Draughts Federation) and the EDC (European Draughts Confederation). In addition to the title of champion, players compete for rating points and the right to represent Belgium at the European Championship 2026, which will be held in October in the Netherlands (Beilen).
