European Team Chess Championship 2025

Dates: October 4–15, 2025. Venue: Batumi, Georgia. Competition location: 5-star Hotel Complex Grand Bellagio Convention. Organizers: European Chess Union (ECU) and the Georgian Chess Federation.

History of the competition

The idea of holding the European Team Championship arose in the early 1950s as a complement to the Chess Olympiads. The first tournament among men's teams took place in 1957 in Vienna and Baden, Austria. Subsequently, the competition began to be held once every two to three years. The women's section was launched in 1992 in Debrecen, Hungary. Over time, the format changed: it is now a nine-round Swiss system, with separate competitions for men's and women's teams.

According to the results of the competition held in Budva, Montenegro, the **Germany** national team won the men's section. The **Serbia** team received silver medals, and **England** received bronze.
