The European Individual Senior Chess Championship is an annual competition that gathers the most experienced chess players on the continent. Participants compete in two age categories:

  • 50+ (players who have reached 50 years of age by December 31, 2025).

  • 65+ (players who have reached 65 years of age by December 31, 2025).

Separate tournaments are held in each category for men (Open section) and women. The competitions are held under the Swiss system in 9 rounds. Time control is 90 minutes for 40 moves, then 30 minutes to the end of the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move, starting from the first. This championship is not only a venue for the title fight but also an opportunity for communication and exchange of experience among chess players with many years of practice.
